What is Arrowheart::
Arrowheart is committed to the use of storytelling as an educational and healing art. We believe that everyone is a storyteller and everyone has a story to tell. We encourage and guide the telling of personal stories with the knowledge that such an experience can profoundly alter an individual's perception do that his/her life can be looked at in a fresh and positive light
Oral skills underpin literacy and thus storytelling can support reading and writing. The rythm and patterns embedded in oral language are the same as those in written language and so increased confidence and skill orally can be transferred to reading and writing.
Storytelling encourages the use of listening skills and develops focus and concentration , both of which are important in terms of literacy and social life. The ability to listen and communicate clearly is vital for conflict resolution.
We also encourage humour and spontaneity to enhance the inner life. We believe that storytelling as an ancient and reviving art is an important agent of change for both the individual and the larger community.
